Join Us at City Hall on Aug. 13th and Rally for Affordable Housing at The Grove
Today, we are announcing a historic plan to build affordable housing at The Grove at Shoal Creek. We ask YOU to share our vision and rally with us at City Hall.
Here is our plan: We will build more than 180 units of affordable and workforce housing in one of Austin’s most affluent neighborhoods near Austin’s urban core. In fact, the affordable housing proposed for The Grove would be the first affordable housing program of its kind in west Austin.
Why are we doing this? Because it is the right thing to do, and it is about time someone did it.
But we can’t do it without your strong support.
By all accounts, Austin is experiencing an affordability crisis. The population of Austin continues to grow, but the housing supply is not keeping pace. As demand grows and prices and rents rise, fewer working families can afford to live in the urban core. Artists and musicians are leaving Austin. Unsustainable urban sprawl grows and grows.
We need your help.
Austin needs more affordable housing units, so we want to do our part and offer a solution that can be built in The Grove, rather than making affordable housing someone else’s problem to deal with somewhere else, some other day.
Now is your chance to make a difference.
